Is it normal to choose my college major for this reasoning?
I took Criminal Justice classes through community college while in High School. It was so easy and I was good at it. Just did my readings and I aced all of my tests. When I started going to college in a different state, I was undecided on my major, and being that I had 6 or so classes in Criminal Justice, they set it in Criminal Justice.
So I have been lamenting over my major ever since. My Math skills are so-so, but my reading comprehension skills (anything involving reading, language processing, etc.) are fantastic and well above average. There are many majors that I can choose that I would be good at, and I have done well in many of those various classes, but I've been lamenting the choice because I was afraid I'd hate the Criminal Justice field.
Then I came to a realization. CJ classes were easy because I was good at them, and if I am doing a job that I am good at and making better money than I am now, it's worth taking the risk of my hating it and I'll likely be happy in a job I am good at anyway. I already have experience in the field and I'm doing well. Is this solid reasoning to keep my major and work towards the degree?
By the way, I plan on getting a Masters but I would settle for a Bachelors on the off chance that a CJ degree becomes useless and I'd have no hope of repaying the student loans for graduate school.
