Is it normal to consider myself healthy / smoke five cigs daily?

I made this pact with myself to quit by the time I am thirty, my thirtieth birthday is nearing in a couple of months, should i quit? Only smoking five cigs, does that make me healthy? I am almost afraid of quitting, knowing that it just might lead me off a cliff to worse things, like drugs.

It's enough to develop into a lung disease.

If you think this is healthy you're in denial.

You should keep the promise you made to yourself and quit. It's not healthy... even 5 a day.

Cigarettes are not healthy, but modern society acts like they are the ONLY unhealthy vice in the world. I think it's weird when obese people, alcoholics, people with eating disorders etc. freak out because someone smokes. You might not be the healthiest you could be, but you may still be healthier than some of your non-smoking peers depending on factors.

5 CIGGS A DAY?! 5 CIGGS A DAY, HEALTHY?! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEY PUT IN CIGARETTES?! Stop shitting yourself. There's no way that this can be healthy for you. No way.

Do you realize that one of the things you inhale when you smoke tobacco is formaldehyde? That should answer your question, don't you think?

No smoking at all is considered healthy...You had better quit now before you become a compulsive smoker, I had relatives who smoked a pack a day, that's why I say I 'had' relatives. You will definitely have withdrawal problems, but if you make a conscious effort to avoid any intoxicants, you'll do great. Maybe you're using the drugs argument as an excuse to keep smoking?

Well why not do something that would take your mind off it that isn't even more unhealthy? Like taking up a hobby or chewing gum ?

It starts with a few, but usually occasional smokers become chain smokers. You should probably quit before you become too dragged in to go back

  • I used to smoke around 2 packs a day. Lately I rarely smoke cigerattes. I do really like nice cigars though and will have a cigar on occasion. I hate the cheap cigars though. I only like expensive ones. I like good pipe tobacco too. The only cigerattes I like anymore are pure tobacco ones like nat shermans and american spirits. Tobacco is very addictive but it really bad for health. I recommend at least quitting tobacco with additives.
