Is it normal to copy habits of a fictional character?

Ok, I'm going to be completely honest.
I go onto online roleplay sites, like forum roleplay.
Whatever my current story is, I'll start to ACT like my character in real life.
Like, if a character has their hair a certain way I might do that, but not often.
But, I certainly pick up their personalities and act like it in real life... It isn't obvious to other, and I've only noticed this habit a while ago.
Is it normal?

And here I thought I was the only one that did that! I watched Sherlock Holmes recently and you can bet it's been an interesting few weeks for those around me :)

Yes. After watching a movie sometimes I "feel" like I am one of the characters for a little while. For example, today I watched the film Wilde where Stephen Fry plays Oscar Wilde. For pretty much the rest of the day I felt like Oscar Wilde and I even typed like he talked at times. I also have a friend who feels like Tony Stark after she watches Iron Man. Bottom line, yeah I think it's normal, especially if you strongly identify with a character or even if you just really enjoyed them.

LOL I do that. When I find a programme or book I really like (read: obsessed) I start acting like the character or picking up things he does. Not like totally imitating him but I change my ways in little ways

  • I do that too. I do that with characters and I do that with some of my best friends traits and actions.

    I sometimes puff on cigars because Wolverine does...and I'm a girl..LOL.
    I don't know if it's normal but it's harmless.

I know what you mean! Energetic characters do it the most.

If you ever watch apes like gorillas or chimps, they frequently copy each other. It's part of our genes.
