Is it normal to count the alphabets of any words uselessly?

I have a specific habit of counting the alphabets of any words or sentences. I do not actually remember when I get this habit but now I can count the number of alphabets of any lengthy worlds in an second. All my friends are astonished by this. This habit made popular in my locality. Even I am getting some offers to show this talent at stage show. Is it normal to have such type of habit?

It's letters, not alphabets. The alphabet is all of the letters. I'm guessing English isn't your first language.

i do that too! it's not amazing to me..... i just notice every crack on the wall, every color hair, every shape, sound, touch, and scent i see, hear, feel or smell. i'm what you may call a person with the 100 yard stare, and i didn't even go in to the army.

Not enough to say you have OCD, but it's worth reading about, if it's compulsive and you can't stop yourself.

Many people have Obsessive/Compulsive tendencies which are NOT a Disorder, so that might describe you. But this one behavior sounds fairly harmless.

I am very confused on what you mean by "counting the alphabets."
