Is it normal to crash my car than hit a fox or any other animal

there is a lot of wildlife where i live and on several occasions i have had to do a "panic" to avoid deer, fox, and mice(thats right ill slam on my brakes to avoid a mouse) last night i was coming home from work at about 2:30AM (double shift) and a fox ran out in front of my car.i slammed on the brakes and when i relized i wasnt going to stop in time i turned towards a guard rail.luckally the car stopped in time.i know what your saying oh you could have been killed, witch to that i say bullocks! i drive an old valvo 240 wagon, it has the structural integrity of a tank.

Aha, I'd think id rather accidentally hit a car with two kids than an animal on the road. $500 says the animal has less a chance of screwing up the world than humans.
Too many kids now a days, bit enough animals.

You really shouldn't becuase you endanger other people when you swerve. Which you DON'T have the right to do. What if you hit a car carrying a family with two little kids? Or you wreck your car across the road and someone comes up on your wreck and can't stop in time?? So people should be at risk for the life of a mouse? Idiot. Take driving lessons or stop driving.

No. I've been around places with wildlife the best thing to do is kill it instead of risking your own life.

If you are concerned about the animals just slow your speed so it's easier to stop

  • once i was driving along a 3 lane highway and a samoyed dog ran in front of the car, i was in the middle lane and drove straight over it i did not swerve i had control. i could have been killed easily. shame about the dog i know but what can you do? be careful when you swerve, sometimes you cant safely

If I can go arround it (In a safe manner) I will. Mostly I just flash my lights and the animal goes away. But if it doesn't, or jumps in front of me, I won't swerve, roll my car, destroy it and bring physical harm to myself or others.
The only animal I have hit with my car was a bird (some sort) It came out of nowhere and hit the windshield. I was doing 150kmh on the freeway.

You must live out in the country. I don't think it's a good idea to risk your life, but I know how you feel...I don't even want to run over animals if they're already dead!

That wasn't what I thinking, no. I feel the same way as you. It's why I've never driven a car.

I agree with Wigsplitz. Even as an animal lover, I think when it comes down to it, people's safety should come first.

I think it's a terrible idea to try and dodge the animal. Because there is a good chance you might endanger someone elses life. Like other drivers behind/beside you.
