I generally keep crying regardless if I remember the dream or not. The feeling I’m left with after the dream stops, still remains.
I think its all about the emotions you are feeling at that moment. Dreams tend to make unrealistic situations seem so real hence why we may get so caught up in the emotions of it all
This has happened to me only twice but I would say it’s normal. Terrible dreams can feel very real, so just like how some people twitch or grown in their sleep I imagine crying is similar.
I laughed a few times in dreams and woke myself and my partner up laughing. Not often, but so weird.
I could relate to it because I dreamt where I had to escape my own house.
If you're one of those people whose normal response to strong emotions is tears, then it would be normal for you to cry even if those emotions aren't your reaction to something that's happened in the real world, but rather because some scenario that exists only in your head, and for you to continue crying if you wake up with the feeling provoked by the dream lingering in your mind.
I can see how someone who is normally very controlled and restrained IRL might also cry in response to dreams as an emotional release which they don't allow themselves when awake.
It is not normal to get so over emotional at random times. Dreams are not real so should not make you feel things so strongly.
