Is it normal to die when calling the neighbor's dog?

So, my neighbor got a new dog a while ago and would let me dog-sitting it when he would be absent and couldn't take it with him.
While he was gone I would call the dog by the name of Steve. Eventually, he learned that this was his name though my neighbor called him Axel.
Now, since my neighbor's name is Steve and he doesn't know about it, every time I call him the dog would run at me.
And I can't stop laughing then. It sounds like the laugh of a maniac.

Is it normal?
