I'm not a big fan of liver, but apparently a late uncle of mine enjoyed liver, and onions quite a bit, it was one of his favorite things.
The smell of it cooking makes me gag. I refuse to cook it and make hubby cook it outside when he wants it.
All I know is to not eat a polar bear liver because the vitamin A concentration.
I wanted to like it but it's just weird. I knew someone who had liver and mixed vegetables for dinner every single night. The way she made it was good but I just couldn't get past the texture. I think it's the only food I liked the taste of but hated the texture. Well, coconut too I guess.
I understand vegetarianism but I dont understand veganism. Why is it bad to drink milk if the animal was specifically bred over thousands of years to produce milk? Or honey. It's just bees, if you have a honey hive they still pollinate the surrounding area, you just take their work and leave enough of it for them to survive the winter.
The thing is though, Lloyd, taking the cow's milk not only weakens the cow but deprives its calf of sustenance. Also, once a cow's milking days are over, she is slaughtered rather than allowed to live out her days in peace. You make fair comment though.
To be fair about the cows it is sad about the seperation of the calf (I personally dislike veal due to the nature of the source) but slaughtering a cow that's too old to produce milk is just efficent both for the work process and the environment. One less cow to produce methane. Most animals dont die of old age, the only animals that tend to die of old age are domesticated or are apex in their area or are porcupines.
Suppose I do understand disliking traditional animal products. But insects are hardly an animal people should cry over for their "rights" bees are important and create a less labor intensive form of sugar.
Side point what about bug farms? Insects raised for consumption, either as animal feed or human foodstuffs. Insects are barely more inteligent than plants and can be produced by the billion. I propose that we make insect protein bars as a foodstuff for impoverished nations or during times of famine. To me theres nothing wrong with eating insects, it's even more efficent than cattle meat. The taste is the only thing questionable, but nothing some peanuts, salt, or chocolate cannot spruce up.
Depends which organ... side note is a heart an organ or at that point is it just a mass of muscle?
A personal preference, but what happened to make you hate it? My grandmother fed me grapefruit every morning and now I can’t stand the smell of them. As for liver, she fried it olive oil with onions and a little wine and it was good once in a while. But calves liver not chicken.
Food preferences are pretty normal. I like liverwurst, some people don't.
