Is it normal to drink 9-12 liters of water a day?

I am an 120 lbs 5'4" 19 year old female. I workout a lot and have a very active lifestyle, but I feel like this is still too much water. I drink this much because I am genuinely thirsty, and when I drink less I have all the symptoms of dehydration (headache, fatigue, yellow urine). I thought that maybe I had diabetes, as constant thirst is a common symptom, but when I was tested for it, it came up negative. The doctor suggested incorporating foods with a high water content and juice into my diet. I eat fruit with every meal and have juice every morning and I am still incredibly thirsty throughout the day. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this? And if so, is it due to some medical condition or are there some people who just need more water than others?

I read a report a long while back and it said if you drink too much you will wash out all vitamins and minerals you have in our body and you have to make a concerted effort to get those minerals and vitamins back(not in one day). Also have a Dr. check your endocrine(not sure of spelling)system. good luck with that, btw u aren't drinking city water or paying Hi dollar for bottled water are u?

I also drink lots of water and I am littler than you. I drink about 5 litres a day. They say we are only supposed to drink 2 litres a day.
There is nothing wrong with me and if there is nothing wrong with you then what harm can it do?

I would suggest that you have another doctor do the test again. Perhaps it was a false negative, though I'm not familiar enough with that test to know if that's common.
That is a lot of water. I'm a good deal larger than you and I live in the tropics. On a hot day I might drink a gallon and a half.
I would suggest you try Gatorade or something similar and see if that helps with your thirst. Perhaps you need some of the electrolytes and minerals those products can supply, that water can't. It's always helped me when I'm dehydrated and get headaches.

    Not normal.

Something must be wrong with kidney or absorption or something, i dont know what though. How is the rest of your diet, do you eat a normal amount of calories, do you get fruits veggies etc..,

Maybe cut back on so much activity, take it easy for a while. Don't keep your body in overdrive all the time

    Also see another doctor

I saw a show where a woman's head injury caused her not to make vasopressin ( anti diuretic hormone).
So you might wanna check that out?

Something isn't adding up like a deficiency in your diet. If drinking juice go for coconut water for hydration and supplement your diet with Himalayan salt.

Drink pure clean water non of this tap bull shit
