Is it normal to eat the dirt from your fingernails?

I typically have a bad habit of always eating the dirt from my fingernails and even tasting + licking it whenever I always bite my nails. It is a very disgusting taste.

    You don’t know what’s in that “dirt”. You could be eating anything; sweat, oil from your skin, possibly fecal matter, so why do it?
