Is it normal to eat the tip of your fingers?

I occasionally eat the tips of my fingers, they regrow in no-time. I remember doing it since I was 6, and I usually do it after long showers/baths.

You're going to end up ruining your fingers.

I'm not the OP but I've done this. You are just increasing chances for skin irritation, never bit until I blead so you are really just eating the top layers of dead skin cells. Since the hands are a heavy friction and bloodflow area it regenerates back to normal in a week. It's not healthy but it's only slightly less so than biting nails.

Depends on how much. Are you just biting the dead skin on top? Or are you crunching them down like carrots? Because if it's the latter, that's probably the least of your problems.

I do this to, just with less self-control. My finger tips are messed up and multiple people have expressed concern

  • Biting one's nails is a nervous habit that can be controlled with a little work. I've never done it myself, but I know people who do, and their hands look like hell.

I do it too sometimes, plus biting the nails.

Finger nails or actual fingers? This is self harm either way.

Since when did biting your nails become self harm?

I dunno. I guess maybe its a little to tame to be considered harm, but the way the title is worded is bad.

I actually used to do this. It's the bits of skin right at the tip of the fingers. It's like biting your nails but has a more chewy consistency obviously. You actually dont notice it until you go into a pool and the bites appear on the skin due to the pruning process.
