Is it normal to enjoy reading bad reviews of places?

I've got a pretty busy life, work and play but sometimes when I'm bored or waiting for something I just like to read the bad reviews of places I visit. IIN?

Yes. If you would like to up your bad review amusement, start looking at the 0-1 star reviews of the worlds natural and structural wonders. I have not seen such epic levels of karening since the Capitol was stormed by enraged yokels.

Great Wall of China? Not so great in reality. It smelled of urine and the chicken from an unrelated street vendor was overcooked. No one even spoke English. Zero stars.

Grand canyon? Grand my ass. Got all the way to the bottom and realized there was no escalators back to the top. They didn't even have a slurpee machine down there. I'll give it one star because I saw a squirrel and my annoying wife died of dehydration, but otherwise it would be zero stars. It's really just a large hole in the ground. I don't even know why people come here.

    So good

The National Gallery in London is just a bunch of rooms with lots of pictures on the walls. Kew Royal Botanic Gardens is just a bunch of plants and trees, and the greenhouses are really hot and stuffy on a sunny day. Big Ben is just a clock on an old tower (actually, Big Ben is a bell, but that's a mistake many make).

I used to read the personal ads in those free local newspapers that are pretty much nothing, but different classified ads.

I know what you mean, and I suspect it's pretty common. I think it might be a schadenfreude thing. (Deriving pleasure from another person's misfortune.)

Some places deserve all the bad publicity they can get. Unfortunately, the internet also allows entitled and stupid people to rant when their unrealistic expectations aren't met, and their ass hasn't been kissed to their satisfaction.

The ones I've seen that struck me as particularly funny were someone reviewing a beach and criticising it for not having had a good sunset when they were there, one complaining that Ben Nevis (the highest peak in Scotland) took a very long time to climb and then turned out to not even have a pub at the top, and another saying that Stonehenge is just a bunch of rocks.

They're kinda funny but sometimes true.
