Is it normal to fake a death

Is it normal to lie and tell my girlfriend that a family member died on their birthday for the reason I couldn't show up, When they asked for the death certificate I told them that I cannot believe they don't trust me, and also tried to guilt them when they expressed that they were upset that I wasn't coming 4 their B'day like I promised. I continued the lie and said thing's like "someone died!" "OMG have some empathy" also accused my gf of being toxic, unsupportive , and for not giving me sympathy on their birthday for the fake death of a family member.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is an idiot.

You’re a disingenuous, devious person. You had better change your way of relating to others before you hurt someone or they hurt you. You’re only fooling yourself in the long run.

I'm sure "disingenuous" is a word that's about six grades above the OP's reading level, so I'll give him a translation in shorter words: you're a lying fuckwit.

Wait a minute. Wtf? How did I not realize how offensive this was?

This is offensive to all the people that have lost a loved one. Do you know how much a person's death can affect their friends and family? You got some nerve making fun of dead people. Please tell me that this is a joke.

Really? Like bbrown said, why didn't you just say you were sick? Or you could have told her you were really tired.

I don't know why you decided to tell her someone died. You are one foolish person.

This is why I hate the use the pop-psychology terms - ironically, some of the people who use terms like "toxic" and "have some empathy" the most are often the people who for whom such terms were invented.

I have a feeling there's a reason she wanted proof, and it's likely because you've lied to her about something like this before (or you are a very bad liar).

We all occasionally tell white lies, but does your excuse really need to be a death? You couldn't say you were feeling under the weather instead?

This entire interaction sounds extremely manipulative and gaslighting on your part, and I'd say you're, in fact, the toxic one in the situation.

I have a feeling this is a troll, but I gotta say that I chuckled at you saying you called her toxic. That's such a brilliant example of psychological projection.

If this post is for real, then she'll dump your lying ass if she has any sense.

The ironic thing is that I think birthday parties for people older than their teens are pathetic and silly, so I wouldn't have wanted to go either. But then I've never been in a relationship with a grown-ass woman who wanted to pretend that she was still twelve, so the problem has never arisen.

    • I'm a lesbian, My gf 100% has done this 2 me took me ages to find out and I think it's important she sees what other people other than myself think about this type of behaviour, I'm hoping shock factor will help her change.

Hmmm... most people fake having a life.

Not sure why faking you are dead is an issue.

Now in your case, you faked that someone else died as an excuse.

For some people that is normal. Fortunately, it's a very small segment of society; and I am sure will remain so.
