Is it normal to fear going to the doctor?

First of all sorry for my bad english, I hope you'll understand me anyway.

Since I was 14 or so (now I'm 20) I had hypothyroidism and got medication for that. However, I never felt ill. Four years ago, I moved to a different town and in the beginning I simply forgot to go to the doctor to get my medication because I felt better than ever before. But now I actually want to go to the doctor again but I simply have fear that he might be mad at me for ignoring the hypothyroidism for four years. And I don't have any idea what I should say if he asked me why I did that...

So, is it normal to have fear in this case?

The doctor is there for you, you are not responsible for how he feels, he has taken a job that makes him responsible for his patients feelings/wellbeing. Remember when dealing with any health service that, other than being polite, you owe them nothing. They get paid and the gratitude they receive must be quite fulfilling.Let him worry about how you feel...it's his job.I hope this is some help.Straighten your back and off you go!
