Is it normal to feel afraid of the sky?

Sometimes, when I lay on my back outside and l stare straight up at the sky for a long time, I feel really disoriented, weird, and afraid. I feel like I am floating in space and also like I am falling towards the sky at a great rate of speed. It sorta feels like a roller coaster ride but much worse. Then I start to feel as small as an ant and expect to see a giant! Has anyone else felt like this? [No. I don't do drugs.]

  • Same. I think maybe, like me, it could be agoraphobia related. I hate wide open spaces where you cannot hold onto something or be protected by something, and looking up at the sky is so open and wide so I'm not a fan of doing that Lol. I'm all right with blue skies with clouds, but not a sky full of clouds for some reason, probably a fear of storms or something.
You also said that you feel like your 'falling' into the sky? Maybe you also feel like you can't hold onto anything, and that the sky could just pull you into it? It could be panic as well, as panic attacks can make your vision distorted and make you feel disorientated.

I know what you mean I'm a 16 y/o girl and ever since I was little I hated staring up into the sky because I felt like I would fall into it, and it would just really disorient me and I dont like being upside down for the same reason, sometimes I even have this weird recurring thought that one day gravity will just stop working and everything will just fall into the sky and it terrifies me! Even though I know it's impossible of course.

    • I lose awareness of the Earth and I just see those really big, scary clouds pressing down on me. Then I feel like I'm floating in them like in the eye of a hurricane only blue. It's really too much!
