Is it normal to feel disgut/dislike at a person over fiction

I'm normally an open-minded person. Not much bothers me, but sometimes when I really like a certain character, and I find an author or artist, professional or just a fan who treats them like crap, it really gets to me. I find this odd, considering that I am an adult, so it's a bit embarrassing. I'll usually rage for a bit, calm down, feel bad about getting so upset, and then get mad again.

Normal?

If we can love some (tony stark and many others) we can also hate some. Normal.

You are talking about a fictional character here, right? And it upsets you when an author or artist, professional or just a fan (basically ANYBODY) treats them like crap? Again, a fictional character? As in not real, made up, imaginary?
I'm lost. How do you treat a fictional character like shit? They aren't real. They don't exist. They are imaginary. How can anybody interact with a fictional character?

I think it has less to do with literally hurting the character's feelings and more to do with hurting the fan's feelings.

If something they enjoy is being treated like garbage, then they feel like they're the ones being treated like garbage in an indirect way.

In other words, they love the characters to the point where the characters become a part of their identity (whether consciously or subconsciously), so any negative treatment of those characters feels like a personal attack.
