Is it normal to feel life has no purpose?

I am reaching 40 and realize now that life has no purpose. God is a big lie and there is no afterlife. Why do we go through the same routine everyday, if in the end, we will not remember any of it when we die. We are just apes with a computer brain that will one day shut down. Does anyone else feel this way?

I felt that way for a while, but then I realized that all that religious garbage shoved down our throats doesn't matter. Whether there is an afterlife, or we just cease to exist, or something in between, what matters is the mark we make on the world we live in. Our children, our accomplishments, and our legacy. How we donate to the human race is the most important thing in any of our lives. No matter what anyone does with their life, they've donated by just living and experiencing the human condition.

Have you tried meditation? How much philosophy and religion have you studied?

Life doesn't have a purpose, so you take responsibility and give it a purpose. Do something. Make a difference. Make things better.

I feel exactly as so, however I take it in a different direction. People as a whole are caught up in their own existence. Life certainly has no purpose, however that does not degrade its worth. If i had the means, i would move to a sparsely populated foreign country and grow food and marijuana. When something or someone gets to me I just think of the meaninglessness of my existence and theirs, and suddenly nothing matters and i feel quite a bit better.

I see little to no purpose myself. If at least I could be happy, then it might be worth it, but I am miserable most of the time.

Life sucks, and yet I am too afraid to just kill meself.

Maybe you should ask yourself, what happens when we die?

I dunno. I think you make your own meaning, whether it be god, family, or job, or a mix of them. My impending demise and lack of afterlife, my own mortality is something everyone has to face. It's periodic. The desolation comes and goes, as does belief in God, etc.

The trick is to know that it comes and goes.

And that same routine everyday? Fuck it. Call up someone you haven't talked to in a while, steal something from the 7-11, and try some discount day-old sushi.

Well, I believe in god and the afterlife but still...why did he make all of this stuff? For what? Oh well...no point.

I'm no judge of anything. If You may want to know the answer to your question, read Quran, you'll find it everywhere, and in your preferred language. Read till the end with explanations of the verses. There are detailed Quran books. This is only one book, just read it as any other. But don't judge before you finish the whole book. See what your life will be after that. Misery or purposeful?

I agree completely, but I'd say that feeling happy is worth living a pointless life. Do whatever makes you happy. If you don't know what makes you happy, keep trying new stuff until you find something.
