Is it normal to feel like an animal sometimes?

Ever since I was really little I felt more animal than human (despite the fact humans are animals)
I feel very reptilian
I have native american and aboriginal ancestry, not sure if that means anything.
How do I make this feeling go away?

Don't make that feeling go away. Accept it and become a reptile.

Please for the love of god don't listen to that furry. You're a human being and just by being alike to animal does not mean even any part of you is that animal. You are 100% human.

Look, it's perfectly okay to identify with an animal or feel like you can relate to one, however you need to make sure that you won't stray from reality and start thinking you are one. As long as you know and realize that you are a human being, you're fine.

    • That's literally what Therian means. Therians are humans.

But they identify as an animal, which is ludicrous.

        • How?? People identify as different things all the time. Theres nothing wrong with it so long as they don't actually believe they ARE those things.

Just because society is at a point right now where identifying as a dog is acceptable and everyone just has to agree with it, does not mean it's actually healthy. It shows classic signs of mental illness, and should be treated as such.

There's a difference between wanting to be a woman and changing gender depending on your mood or defining yourself as an alien, just as there is a difference between living in a makebelief world thinking you're an animal on the inside and just wanting to be one.

People identify as redicilous shit, it's out of control and I don't endorse it even the slightest. If you wanna pretend to be a dog, sure. But you are not one. You cannot identify as one. No part of you is a dog.

            • Ugh. Whatever. It’s your opinion, but not everyone has to agree. What’s the difference between transgender and therian? Both are identifying as something they are not, and both are fine. It’s not hurting anyone.

Humans are more instinctual when we're small. We are closer to animals, then our brains grow larger and develop. The lizard brain is called such because it controls most autonomic functions, including fight or flight response. If it feels particularly hard to avoid acting instinctually, the best solution is to develop the other parts of your brain with logic and reason. I strongly identify with wolves for example, but at no point do I believe I am a wolf. If anything I just find value in the spirit of the animal. I am rational and don't let feelings overwhelm thoughts. I don't know if your ancestry means anything, but carrying totems and symbols of animals with us is a very old practice in most cultures.

They say that chimpanzees and dolphins have the same level intelligence as a three year old child, but I'm not sure if that's true because 3 years olds can speak words, smile and laugh but chimps and dolphins can't. Chimps and dolphins cannot speak any words, and chimps look like they are giving wide toothfull grins and laughing but those are not actually smiles and the laughing sounds are just the noises chimps make. Some animals like cats and sheep look like they're smiling from the side views of their faces, but that's just the shapes of their faces making it look like smiles.

Dolphins talk to each other but we have yet to understand them but they can learn very easily our language. They cannot respond very well as they don't have the same equipment for our speech.

They are misinformed. It's comparing apples to oranges. A study confirmed that 2 1/2 year olds cognitively outperform chimps in the same tasks under controlled circumstances. They have completely different development and capability. Chimps have been proven to adopt human-like expressions if taught, but are physiologically and mentally incapable of producing human language. Sign language is an exception to this, which is why children will sometimes sign back and forth with primates at the zoo. Also while cats might not be able to smile as such, they are masters of sarcastic looks.

Honestly OP, you very well could be a therian, and it honestly sounds like it based solely on your post. You don’t have to be super open about it, just know that whatever you feel is your own experience, and nobody can tell you you’re experiencing your feeling the “wrong way.” I’m not therian myself, but I do feel very strongly about personal identification.

EDIT: I realized after I posted that you asked how you could get rid of this feeling. It’s not something very easy to “get rid of,” I think your best bet would really be to ignore it and focus on your humanity when you mentally “shift” to your reptilian side if you really wish to be rid of it. It will take some time, but if you ignore it well enough for long enough you should start to notice it lessening.

We are all animals. Humans are just much more advanced. Unlike any other animals, we know how to develop language and talk, laugh, smile, wear clothes, decide and reason, write, construct material objects and buildings, and construct and operate machines, cars, planes, etc.

      • A Therian is a human being. Therian means a person who identifies as a specific or multiple animals. And I'm not a furry.

You are. And identifying as an animal is taking things too far. I'll go with transgender people, but I will in no way go with people who identify as the impossible. You are a human, inside and out.

          • I said I'm human. I know I'm human. Identifying as an animal is on the same level as being transgender. Ive been this way since I was little. I know I'm not actually a fox, but I feel like I am one. Its just part of who I am. Its not wrong.

Look bud, I'm just gonna let you be you and we won't argue from here on out. It's completely and utterly pointless. You won't convince me, I won't convince you.

Let's part ways, I bid you farewell. Have a good one.

"the same level as being transgender?"
Month old comment, I know, you may have changed your stance on things, but that comment goes a bit too far.
There are symptoms with being transgender, medically recognized symptoms. It's called gender dysphoria, it's the sense of a disconnect between your perceived self and your body. A female-to-male transsexual (transman), for example, would feel an intense disconnect from his breasts, large hips, high voice, etc., due to dysphoria. This is treated with cross-sex hormone therapy (testosterone), and a few different surgeries so his body can closer resemble a male's. It's incredibly distressing to feel this way and can lead to other mental issues like anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, etc..
Identifying spiritually as an animal... totally different grounds. I can respect therians, 'specially those such as yourself who are sane and acknowledge they're physically human, but therianthropy is still far seated from transgenderism.

No, it's not. You cannot identify as a different species.

      • If you watch some of the videos of wolves in Yellowstone you’ll sometimes see foxes sneaking up and stealing part of their kills and the wolves don’t seem to mind much. Whereas if a coyote tries that it gets killed.

      • They can, but they don’t tend to bother with them. Wolves mostly kill coyotes. They don’t see foxes as much of a threat.
