Is it normal to feel like going to college is going to be pointless?

So, I'm in my first year of community college, but the semester's almost over, and I still have no clue what I want to do with my life. All of the things I'm interested in won't give me money or a stable job...

...And then I keep hearing about all these jobs where people are actually needed, and don't require a college education (Such as being a firefighter, or an electrician, or a plumber). And that a lot of recent college graduates are having a lot of trouble finding jobs.

I feel like there's no point to me going to college, cause I feel like I'm not going to get a job or succeed at whatever it is I'm going to do. I already feel like a complete loser and failure in life, and I haven't even gotten to real college, yet- I already feel like my life is a waste...

    That's the way i felt when i was at a CC. Then i transferred to a UNI and things change man, trust me. Gotta endure push through the hard stuff first, then the rest should be like pie.

    i hear ya. Im 22 on my 4th year at the community college and iv never felt that school was going to help my become successful. It wasn't until my 3rd year that i realized i just need to get my associates in general ed and decided what to do from there. I still have no clue on what i want to do with my life but for now its finish my associates then figure it out. School may seem un important but continuing to learn is important. A few years from now you'll see people from high school who didn't continue and you'll see there still at that level of education. Going to community college is not a lesser thing its a smarter thing for certain people. Embrace what you doing!

    I have a friend that says the 11 plus was stupid to do because she said she wasnt bright inorth......
