Is it normal to feel like i'm suffocating in pitch dark?

Okay, so ever since I was a little kid I hated sleeping in pitch dark. If my eyes are open and I can't see anything in front of my face or anything at all it's like I can't breath. Like the blackness and darkness is suffocating me. I always have a nightlight so I know I'm not "dying" and I can still breath. Is it a problem? Is it normal? Lol. Please comment. I would like your feedback. <3
Thank youu!

To go from seeing everything in the light to the lights going out and not seeing a thing is a big change for your brain. It's mostly a panic feeling when this happens to me but you will get used to it.

The same thing happens to me, mostly because of scary movies and my past. And I still sleep with a nightlight. 3 actually!

I'm assuming the breathlessness isn't complemented with anxiety. Either way, both are understandable - in intense light, I often feel overwhelmed, and air seems thin. I love the blue tint of early night, and although pitch black darkness may be thick around me at times, it doesn't thin out my air.

  • Do you feel the same way when the sun is in your eyes and the light surrounds you? Didn't think so. Once you lose your imagination, you'll have no reason to fear the dark.
