Is it normal to feel things with my teeth?

Yes, like a shark.

Sometimes when I come across an item that may be, for example, glass or plastic, but is similar to the touch so I can't tell by hand, I bite on it. Very lightly. More simply touching my teeth to the item then biting, as no damage is done to the object or my teeth.

It's just, with my hands sometimes I can't tell due to the quality of said objects. i.e. high grade plastics can look and feel just like glass, or a coated metal. but with my teeth I can tell instantly.

Does anyone else do this? Or anyone reading this, try it maybe and see if you can "feel" the same as I do. . . My wife thinks it's weird and laughs when she catches me doing it, but is supportive.

This helps me feel not so weird. I do something similar with my lips except it's only to gauge minor variations in temperature that my hands cant detect. Like if I microwaved something and I wanna know if it heated evenly I hover my lips all over the plate to check. Lol. No one's seen me do this... yet.

I recall from random tv stuff where a dude bites on a gold coin to test if it's real. So the practice of identifying materials with teeth surely does exist. You're fine.
