Is it normal to find pleasure in depressing things?

for a good 2 years or so now i have had this strange pleasure in anything that is remotely depressing. an example would be say... a video on youtube. a sort of "depression edit" i find it soothing and i am pretty certain others don't think this so whats so wrong with me? also things like sad songs. they're peaceful and truthful.
i know its very confusing... so could someone help maybe? :) would be much appreciated.

I heard of some kind of study recently ( so it had to be true ) that sad songs etc make you go through a bigger range of emotions then happy or neutral music, I don't know if it's a comfort thing or feeling like someone else is going through shit but I agree,

Sad films, music and books are pretty much all I enjoy, also sometimes I feel that negative emotions can create something more powerful then anything else, I know I've said it on iin before but when I'm happy I want to go do shit and experience things but when I feel down is when I pick up my guitar or go to my laptop and try to write something

It's not even self loathing or feeling sorry for myself, I find sad stuff relaxing and comfortable, with two exceptions I see a darkness by will Oldham and the game life is strange, I feel like that game broke me

It's not confusing at all - I also love sad things because of how real they are. Some of it is that I struggle with depression, so I feel sad videos/songs help me better understand my feelings, but I also just plain enjoy depressing things sometimes.

well it depends, there are some things that would be considered sad that I like, for example, abandoned cars and buildings, there is an eerie beauty to them, for some reason, i'm especially drawn to abandoned 20th century cities and Amusement parks.
