Is it normal to find the online world discouraging?

To me.
Its like real life but worse.

You dont know the person who you're chatting up with, and  yet its still appealing to continue. Uploading pics n
blogs n things that nobody gives a shit about. You'll be in a virtual reality where it can suck you in like a text message whirlpool.. And for softies like he who find someone interesting to talk to, lets not not forget the countless others that'll stroll afterwards as you're offline. More or less its like a contest. A sharks den.

It took a while to see it this way, and obviously because of who i am i see it the way it effects me.

So is it normal?
Or another waste of time?

The online world is amazing! So much fun. So much connection with others. I've had amazing support on an illness site.

At the same time, if it's not for you, you can just switch it off (unlike the real world) x

Online anonymity,ERRK! That is anyone can say anything online without much consequence. Try Omegle messaging, now that's confronting, all they want is sexting. But as discouraging it can be, you meet alot of nice people, for example you can get really caring answers on IIN. Online you can be whoever you want, live a fantasy then log off & return to normality and tackle world poverty & over population.

I was a proper techno phobe I wouldn't even touch a computer for fear I'd break it and the internet was a definate no no,and with the risk of sounding like a fossil never mind a dinosaur I was an email virgin up until January 2011 but O.M.G I wouldn't be without the internet now though. Online is amazing and a brillaint way of getting support and advice.

subconciously though you can't find the online world that encouraging as where have you posted this question??? exactly!! I rest my case xx

The thing that amazes me is the amount of effort some people will put into creating and maintaining a lie, especially when there's nothing to be gained from it.

Also, people get really emotional over disagreeing with a random stranger disagreeing with them, even when it's obvious the person is trolling.

Couldn't agree more .. ! In my opinion,it's just another attention seeking "medium" for those without a life .. & also with chatting online especially to unknowns .. how the fk can you build up a "rapport" with practically nothing but a computer screen and words .. ??!!

To be honest I think the whole online thing is such bs it's almost sickening at times. It's so surreal , so out there. How would you have ever talked to somebody before , without even knowing what f'n sex they are, what they looked like , how old or even where the hell they are !
I do like this place but - here I am supposedly talking with people I've never met, can't see , have no idea what they look like or their sex.
The shopping thing , will shops become extinct because people will all shop online ? Will there be super markets in 10 yrs time , furniture shops, jean stores, malls and plazzas
Porno , it's all over the net. You would have been 16 or 17 to get it only a decade or two ago but now a 5yr could get if they know what buttons to press, that ain't good !
And you realize that as usual as in most things modern , it's meant to save us time and be quicker , but if you add up all the time, effort and money you've spent on computers in 10 yrs , your way behind and a lot poorer.
They say people busier are far more stressed than ever before because of the online age.
And how many means of contact does a show , add or somem have now - twitter-email-text-ph-facebook , they f'n drive you mad reading out all their bullshit at the end of something it's crazy /
Photos , I haven't had real photos around for 5 or 6 yrs. Must have spent 10 grand on computers , printers, ink and in f'g around , yet I have no photos and now there's 4 1/2 thousand of them on my computer that I have to back up encase it crashes - which has happened and I''ve lost 3 yrs of pics and some irreplaceable , and one day , I have to go through them all to sort out what the hell i wanna keep , just to save space and actually print a few up- which i was gonna do this week but now once again the printers not working properly , I've had to buy more ink and then realize I'm outa photo paper- it goes on - and on - and on ! And then , you have to do it all againupdating the other coputers or back ups too. You use to just take a roll of film down the shp , come back tomorrow , pay 10 bucks - done.
If I do get it all right , I'll do a few and run out ink again - then paper then I have to cut the f'ks down to a size - it's insane !
And all this , is only of the top of my head , when you go deaper it all gets so complicated .
I think the online thing though is going to be bad news for the world in the long run as it's only the beginning.
Ahh yeah , and , you have the microwaves , everywhere, they're in your bedroom at night , they're out in the country when you think your away , they're out in the middle of oceans , the whole world is cris crossed with zillions of lines and waves all floating in and out of computers and phones, brains and f'k knows what else.

Hmm , think I got abit carried away

Honestly, I find the offline world to be very discouraging. It gnaws at you and leaves you ready to give up. It's easier online. Trial and Error can existed both online and off. Some people have a shit time online, others offline and some both. Luckily for me, I've managed to find refuge online.

    Does that count for anything?
