Is it normal to get annoyed by an open window?

What I mean by an open window is my roommate always opens the windows in our dorm, and it annoys me so much. We don't have those protective screens, so bugs always get in, it's way too noisy outside and I can't concentrate, and it always makes the room either like I'm in Antartica or I'm on fire. It's not a matter of, "oh could you please shut the window?", but I feel extremely pissed off. I'm all about saving electricity, but does anyone else feel this way about windows always being open?

    Compromise? You can't come to some agreement to share control of the windows in turn?

    I'm right there with you, if there's no screen the window must remain shut. I've been living in Las Vegas since late summer of 2001, and even with a screen there's too much dust in the air here to just open a window, especially in the spring time with the wind and pollen.
