I think most do a good job. Rachel Nicols, besides being smoking hot, does great, in-depth interviews and asks the difficult questions. The guys respect her.
Well, women can do better than that. Maybe, she's just nervous that's why she had mistakes there. Is there a hidden secret to breaking the ice in the dating sphere? i don't see why it would. i know a girl i had a crush on in high school who absolutely loved sports, and knew everything about them, and more than most guys do.
i mean, i guess i can see why it may annoy you that a woman who has absolutely no experience playing football competitively would be commenting on it, but the same could go for a man.
Since when was the world of sports reserved only for men? Just because men's sports get more funding and are better televised doesn't mean that women should stay out of sports. You do sound extremely sexist, and a bit immature too I might add.
I have a hard time being nice here, this is something that's always pissed me off. Do you know what it's like being a female athelete when sports are so male dominated? They actually TORE DOWN our softball field in high school to make way for a football field.
Thats actually a great thing. Make room for the future nfl players. Could you imagine if the NFL consisted of pure females no one would watch let alone take them seriously
Me too. It feels wrong, as sexist as that sounds. But a small Asian woman interviewing the players is just...just.....NOT MANLY ENOUGH!!
Well honestly I wasn't used to it I guess. For example have you noticed the girls that are out on the field interviewing the players? I don't mind them but the ones that are host no no and no.
The first time I heard a game of football commentated by a woman, I obviously noticed straight away. The older you get, the more emotions you get unlocked. It's like a level up or an achievement.
If I didn't have many to choose from, I guess I could have stumbled into describing it as anger but, I'll be honest and say that I had an underlying curiosity about how she'd approach her commentary, especially the mannish parts of it like goal celebrations.
She did a really great job, although sadly I think this is because she had to be better than a good proportion of male commentators just to be accepted and not ridiculed in this environment.
The BBC, in particular, have been very equitable about male and female sports presenters and - from what I can see - just pick the best person for the job, regardless of gender.
Do you think it's just because you're not used to it? It felt strange to me at first. I don't think it was sexist to think that. It was just a change and I notice change. Now that it's commonplace, I don't really notice gender any more, and I'm glad because I shouldn't really be noticing it.
How would you feel about women commentating on women's sport, by the way? I do watch a lot of women's sport and it took me a while to get away from the fact that I thought women should commentate. Now, like male sport, I don't notice either way.
