Is it normal to get call records from a pre-paid cell phone?

I know it's not possible with no-name carriers unless you're a cop, but what about ones such as verizon or at&t or straight talk? Is there a legal (not involving cops) to get such records of calls made/received?

is it normal to be able to do this?

If so, please explain how!! And if some brands do this but some don't please be courteous enough to let me know which ones do.

Most phones keep their own log of calls received and made. If you have physical access to the phone, it's simple enough to check. If you don't have physical access to the phone, you can still request itemised billing which will give you every call made and the duration (but not calls received).

There are other ways too, but they aren't legal. I'm working under the assumption that you are talking about the phone of your child and you just want to make sure they're not talking to undesirables.

If instead, this is the phone of a partner that you suspect of having an affair, this is a bad way of going about proving it. If the person isn't having an affair, I think they'd feel aggrieved enough at being covertly investigated that they'd be justified in bring the relationship to an end. Affair or not, either way you lose.

I don't know much about the topic but I know when I used Boost Mobile (which is a pre-paid mobile carrier that runs through the Sprint/Nextel network) if you log into the "My Account" page, somewhere on there you have a page that will show all of the calls that have gone in and out.

For everything else, you might be able to find the data on the SIM card. In that case, look up the phone in advance on the internet to see whether or not it has a sim card because to list which brands of phone do and don't would take all night.

Call your carrier and ask them for assistance.

They'd probably only be willing to give them up for numbers that YOU own.

That would only really be useful for a company director who wants to know what his staff have been doing with their business lines or parents keeping tabs on their children.

this. cos at this point it's hard to tell if the OP is trying to get the call logs of his/her own phone or if ... it's someone else's phone.

and if it's the latter it's illegal to for the OP to obtain that information
