Is it normal to get in a fight with your dog?

So I got this new dog recently, he's about 90lbs or so. Anyways, he's got a real dominance streak, he bullies my pitbull and one of my other dogs as well.

Occasionally when I correct him, he challenges me. I never back down cause I'm just not wired that way. Usually he's snarl and snap at me, i grab his scruff and put him on the ground, he tries to bite me but I hold him by the neck so he can't get and angle. And I just wait till he chills out.

I mean it's not all out war, but he's definitely trying to do enough damage to "win". I just thought it was kind of odd. You hear about dogs fighting each other for rank, but never a human and a dog fighting.

It could mean the dog is somewhat playing but of course certain breeds are more likely to test you then others. I've played with a dog so rough I threw him 5 feet he slid another five to get right back up after a yelp come at me and draw blood. Dogs will play pretty rough if you let them.

Not normal, but I've had a dog that was sort of a problem dog that got aggressive to me a couple times (but was for the vast majority friendly, and we treated him well), and were aggressive to strangers a lot when going for a walk. Some dogs are harder to deal with than others. If they were raised by someone who didn't do it right it can be hard to fix the damage

He can be boss as in eating first and having priority over toys, but I don't let him harass the other dogs, especially the older one.

But him harassing the dogs isn't that big a deal. It's more about him getting too aggressive. We sorted it out though.
