Is it normal to give my phone a funeral.

For xmas i got a Samsung Galaxy Mini S4. Which meant my Nokia brick, which had been my loving companion for 8 years was finally retiring. It had gotten me out of so many situations, gave me full signal when my friends fancy phones had no signal. Endless hours of Snake, and... it was just there for me. But i knew it was time to move on.

I turned it off for the last time, burried it in my garden and cried for a bit.

Lol, cute. But I would've kept it in the nightstand drawer or display cabinet so I'd always remember it.

  • That's so awesome XD when you have an object with you for so many years, you develop an emotional attachment to it. I do anyways. It is normal to be sad when it is time to move on from a beloved object.

I honestly got teary-eyed when I went to take down my Legolas poster...He has been with me since elementary school, and taking him off my wall was too emotional. So here I am, college freshman, with f-ing poster of Legolas in my bedroom. I don't care though :P

Similar deal with mine. Although mine is a resurrection story. After being turned off for three years, I was suddenly in a situation where I needed to be able to communicate and my minions of communication were dead to me. Except old, dead minion had kept 10% charge for reasons that can only be loyalty and "Jesus: The Phone" or "Lazarus: The redistribution of various myths to ascribe meaning to religion and stop them finding out what we're actually up to. Keep them doped up with religion and tell them some random enemy is the enemy like Fluorine or Iraq or that everyone should be equal".

    Such a great phone. :)

You seem like a kind soul and a good sort of person I would like to befriend because you are clearly caring and empathetic. With that said, I am saddened that our culture has personified the phone to such an extent to drive someone to give it a funeral.

Why would you bury your phone? It still works doesn't it?
I keep my old phones in case I need them. Got my old Sony Ericson here. Gets better reception than my Samsung Galaxy S3 XD

Ah the old bricks, they were tough, these new phones are so feeble in comparison,in years time when humanity has killed itself off, the next civilisation will recover her and with it unlock the secrets of our society,
She is far from retired :)

A dog is a living creature. A phone is a gadget. How is this MORE normal than burying a dog?
