Is it normal to give name to your personal belongings?

Is it normal to give name to your personal belongings?

I do have a weird habit of naming most of my personal belongings especially my techie-gadgets. Examples are:

1. My 1st Nokia Phone- NOKIA or NOKII
2. Nokia Xpress Music Phone- NOX
3. Sony PSP- PERSEPHONE
4. My 1st Laptop- TOSHII
5. My 2nd Laptop- ASUKA or ASSIE
6. My Watch- ODDIE
7. My Tablet Phone- SAM
8. My 3rd Phone- VIVI
9. My Digicam- DAISY
10. My Memory Stick- SCHADENFREUDE

I believe other people name their's too. But the only weird thing on me is... I treat them as a Living Being (not necessarily as a Human Being). And I really don't want anyone use them without my strict permission. Sometimes they malfunction when used by others, and I feel that they are hurt when this thing happens.

I'm not joking! Am I still normal!!!???

Oh, all my electronics the require naming to be used have names. Mainly, my storage devices. I have a PiePod, a 1.5 PiePod (both iPods), a Big PiePod, a Sweetie PiePod, a Samson and Delilah (all hard drives), a Red Gorilla (flash-drive), etc. Otherwise, they just go by what they are, like my phone. "Hey, phone, let's go home, baby."

This is going to sound like a joke, or sarcasm. It's neither. When I buy a computer that's fairly close to the maximum spec possible, it becomes known as "The Beast". When I buy a laptop, supplementary or low-spec box for some reason, it is "The Tiddler".

If there is more than one Tiddler at any one time (there are usually many) they get a second name but they are still primarily Tiddler.

There is never more than one "The Beast" at any one time. If a Beast enters where a Beast already exists, existing Beast has to retire. Any machine that has been Beast will always be Beast though (as a mark of a respect). They just get known as "Old Beast".

To date, there is "The Beast" (who is two and a half years old and had better watch his step), five "Old Beasts", sixteen "Tiddlers" and nine pre-Beasts. There is also an extended family of phones, PDAs, robots, PVRs, single-board boxes, and things which defy categorisation.

All robots get names (which I won't share) and all pieces of software have names (which I also won't share).

Of the six Beasts, the third "Old Beast" is the only one with another name. He is "Blue Beast" and he was the stuff of legend. I don't think there will ever be another Beast to have a special name.

Well, for networking purposes, a computer asks for a name when you install the operating system.
It's definitely more interesting than going with the default [My First Name]-PC
