Is it normal to go to a gospel session …......

….... just for the music ??

Hiya,

I’ve got a couple of cds of very early music – I love close-harmony/unaccompanied singing -- and there's a gospel version of 'How Firm A Foundation' on. I've always got it on because I think it's absolutely brilliant. Then I can go from that to blues to heavy metal.

I went to a gospel session simply in the hope of hearing the former song (I didn't) and in the hope it would be like “I said, when I woke up this mornin …..” (it wasn't)

The couple who led the session blessed me. I am very soppy when it comes to anything to do with music (not otherwise) and was nearly in tears.

is it normal to go to a gospel session just for the music ??!!

Sure! You don't have to be part of a religion to appreciate the music and culture.

Normal but they might get angry if they find out your real reasons for being there. The safest thing(s) to do are to buy live recordings so you can melt into the music.

Are you allowed to do that? I'd love to, myself. Gospel choirs are amazing!

I wouldn't say either... as long as you don't actually believe all that stuff... as for being so soppy, that isn't normal :/

    Gospel session?
Just stay away from the church, they will eventually make you fear the music, I'm sure.
