Is it normal to google really weird phrases to confuse bloggers?

I've noticed that a lot of people with blogs pay attention to what people search for to find their blogs. Some of them make entries about the weirdest things people have found them by searching for, and I'm sure lots of others notice the weird searches but keep it to themselves. So my latest hobby is Googling the weirdest sentences I can think of and clicking on all the results that appear to be blogs to try to make people I don't know think I'm insane.

Is this normal?

    I like to click on all the ads and make sponsors pay money because they think the blogger has lead me to their website.

    @Lockets there's a Thing that checks to see how many people look up certain words and phrases per month.

    Forgive my ignorance but how do the bloggers know what people have searched for to find them??
    I am sure you know what you are talking about though, and I think that is a really fun idea!
