Is it normal to hate anniversaries?

I just got out of a relationship. My ex was constantly mad because I never bothered to remember/do not like anniversaries. I mostly don't like them because there shouldn't be just one day a year (or month) that you do something nice for your partner, or show how much you love them. Is this normal?

  • I think that it comes down to ones personal opinion, some think they are important and some don't, either way it's nothing one should get angry about. If one does get angry then I would assume that there is something else bothering them.

I hate them too, I've never seen the big deal with them, I find it so forced and artificial. As you said, it shouldn't be just one day that you are nice to your partner. However, it means different things to different people, my boyfriend is a believer in them so I go along with it for him, I think it's about compromise
