Is it normal to hate being so smart

I hate being smart in school I understand something the first time the teacher explains it and then I don't pay attention and get in trouble

And when someone doesn't understand something the teacher makes me help them.

And people ask me the dumbest questions with obvious answers and that irratates me to.

Is it normal that I hate being smart because of these things oh and my IQ is 154

I am on the smart side too, but some people would kill to be a little gifted so you should stop complaining because it could be a lot worse

This is the most natural reaction to being smart in school: you get bored, irritated with others' inability to cope and have the urge to showcase your gift. My advice to you is firstly to remember to be humble - you may have more intelligence, but social skills are very important in life and advertising your boredom can be seen as being obnoxious. Find some extra activities to do, possibly advanced mathematics, and ask your teachers not to send slower learners to you; you clearly do not have the patience for them and that can only lead to trouble.

I;m the same way. i hate when people ask me things that a two year old could answer i feel my IQ drop when ever i am at school because of the people. I even make the my science teacher nerves. I think it is normal for smart people to feel this way

Well, you are obviously gifted, so try to explain to your teachers that you require more rigor academically. In this day and age, they'll be positively beaming at the news....

A word of caution though; being that you are gifted,a certain amount of humility is almost required. Intelligence is at best a touchy subject, and at worst an instant insult. So many of us wish and pray for intellect, you come off a little arrogant here, please be respectful of those around you. Take the "higher" road as it were and use your gifts to help those in need.

    I *totally* feel you.

What gets me the most is that the dumkopfen actually have the nerve to get mad at you for being smart.

Those people, I just want to crack their skulls open so they have a reason to blame me for their personal retardation.

I have the exact same problem! I have an IQ of 160 and my teacher always makes me do projects with dunces. She always points out when I get something wrong so the other stupid kids in the class feel better about themselves. I have done all the work on partnered projects since the third grade when we started doing projects and I have been irritated ever since. Thankfully, I can look forward to AP classes in two years.

Obviously school is to easy for you. You're probably a fast learner and bored to death. Yes, I know how it feels. It's very frustrating and friends usually can't understand. Try moving to an upper class or level.

From what you've said it seems like you require more academically challenging classes in school. Pursue advanced placement and honors courses. It's very normal for someone above the usual level of intellectual understanding for their age to feel frustrated.
