Is it normal to hate christianity?

I'm an atheist myself, but I always do my best to respect others beliefs. I don't think people are dumb for being religious or anything like that. But it's really hard to respect someone's religion if their homophobic because of it. It's just hard to respect someone that would treat others badly because of something they cannot see. It's especially hard today with the supreme court ruling this morning. Facebook and everything is just filled with homophobes spouting scriptures and all that. I want to respect beliefs, but it's hard when their beliefs are causing them to be so hurtful toward others.. (I know they are other homophobic religions, but Christianity is the only one I'm directly exposed to)

Your title is misleading. Otherwise I agree.

Yep, I LOVE all the homophobic preaching going on in the catholic church, just minutes before the priest is going to molest a few of his alter boys.
Way to go catholics, and while you're at it, do help your clergy cover up your pedophilia clergy.
Such a wonderful bunch of hypocrites you all are, too.

Not all Christians are Homophobes or hate homosexuals. Further more if you are going to attack someone for being gay you dont understand the point of Christianity.

Only extreme Christians are homophobic. My family is Christian and isn't homophobic at all. There are also a significant amount of gay people who are Christian.

It's my own religion and I'm starting to hate it. Mostly the other Christians, not the religion itself.

My family is Christian. I was raised to be Christian. I'm one of the few or maybe the only one that has chosen to reject it. I'm not gay, but I agree with what you're saying. I think there are also other flaws in addition to rejecting homosexuals, but I think all religions have flaws and don't add up. I don't hate religion, but I don't give it any attention. Religion is a control system and I won't let it brainwash me.

Not all Christians and their churches are homophobic (look up Nadia Bolz Weber for a good example).

But yes it's normal to dislike someone or something that tries to change who you are, or hates you and ostracises you because of your sexual orientation.

Unfortunately, the fact is there are a lot of Christians and their churches who are guilty of doing exactly that.
