Is it normal to hate is it normal posts that...

...purposely don't complete their topic and lead you into clicking it to quench your interest, like this post just did?

I'm not trying to be a hypocrite here, but if you clicked the post because of the above, well, you understand my feelings even better now.

Just complete the topic. It's annoying when a post does that to abuse your curiosity and then isn't even worth having opened. Much like you may be thinking of this one. It is its own perfect example. = P

Yes, annoying. 22
Damn, it got me again. I hate it. 13

I've seen a couple that do this when they could quite plainly have fit the question into the title. It just seems like a trick to get more attention than the story deserves.

I only understand this when the question being asked was too long to fit in the character allowance and there was no other shorter way they could've worded it.

    lol'd at this one.
i always mouse-over them, it shows a sample of what the inside text is, if it doesn't get to the point/interest me by then either, i just skip over it

It annoys me a little bit because they could easily have been more transparent if they wanted to, but even if the story isn't interesting I've only wasted ten seconds checking (and if the story is interesting, then I'm glad I was dragged in! :P).

I was actually suspicious from your lead-in that you were going to complain about this very thing! It always seems immature to me, like it's somebody who is afraid that if they say the post is about something that they know is only fascinating to them, they are afraid nobody will read it.

Most of the time there just isn't space to finish. Anyway, who wants a super long title?
If this is what bothers you the most about this site, then count yourself as one of the lucky ones.
For me it's the illiteracy of so many of the posters. Not only is it annoying, it makes it very hard to understand their questions.
I guess it's a glimpse of what the American school system is producing these days. Kinda scary.

    • Well, I said on purpose. I suppose people should try to be concise; the title length is pretty generous. It's just a bother, not my biggest bother...

I find the outcome of your schooling is based less on the system and more on the effort and willingness of the individual to learn. I guess someone has to work at Taco Bell. More quality jobs to go around for the rest of us.
