so i am a student and i am very good at all of my subject's in school, but i just HATE MATH! the reason for that is because i was never good at it. like i know the basics and stuff but i was never a good learner in it. Also my father and mother are good at it and so is my sister, but i come out, not good at it. does have to do with my genes? is this normal?
It's theoretically the easiest subject because we all innately do algebra without even thinking about it. However, Maths is taught atrociously in schools.
The people who struggle with Maths cite it as a set of rules they have to remember; rules that don't have much context or make much sense. This is because it's taught like any other subject when it's actually completely different than any other subject. Many subjects consist of learning and remembering things. But Maths is not a factual subject; it's a perceptual one.
If teachers spent time talking about real world situations (i.e. four pennies weigh twelve grammes, what does one penny weigh?) and then gradually showed how to code this as an algebraic equation, I think pupils would understand it better. However, they start straight in on the algebra and expect people to be able to relate it back to the real world. It makes no sense. Start with the thing people understand and then extend it. Don't start with something people don't understand and expect them to be able to work backwards.
i too was pretty great at every other subject in school but maths i just don't get.
I hate math too! History is by far the best subject. That and geography!

It's normal to dislike doing things we suck at.
I share your lack of ability at maths, so I don't like maths... I do wish I was good at it though. But then it's equally normal to wish we were good at things we suck at, so we didn't dislike them so much :P
I'm not good in math at all I have a learning disability in math. So maybe u do too and was never detected early on in school and u need different techniques going about learning math or need 1on 1 assistance with some one who can translate the math problem it's possible. U might have calculidyslexia
Some people just aren't that good at math. But, if you take on the attitude that you "hate it," then you'll do even worse with it. See if there are some parts of math that you relate to. It might make things a little better.
