I was wondering the other day about what determines one's taste in music.... Upbringing and culture definitely play a role. But I listen to all sorts of different genres that were never introduced to me by anyone.

I think most ppl stop maturing in musical taste by the end of college if not high school. Being involved in the performing arts I have appreciation for all music genres. I don't hate any kind of music but I do have artists in all genres that I like more than others.
I think all types of music have something to offer.

It's normal. It depends on personal taste and what you hear on the radio. I can't stand the overplayed rap songs on the radio. Most of them don't have any relatable or inspiring lyrics to them. Your post reminds me of this rap song I had stuck in my head for some reason. I like the lyrics to it:

It's just a personal preference, so I voted "normal"
Rap and Hip-Hop is hit and miss with me. I love some of it, but some of it sounds like trash.
Personally I hate all that screaming death shit that teen goths listen to. I find it disgusting and tasteless.
