i don't know why i can never motivate myself to do anything whether that's school or even something that i enjoy. all i want to do is lay in bed all day. does anyone have tips on how to gain motivation?

I was never much of an academic person, either. I'm assuming you're in high school/secondary school and not in college/university? If so, just do what you can to get through it and graduate, and you'll be able to decide on a career that better meshes with you. I'm a very hands-on person myself and prefer physical labor to desk/office work or anything academic, so I've found that the workforce is a much better fit for me than school was.

If you are in college/uni, perhaps it just isn't a great fit for you. Fortunately, there are other avenues to earn a good living that you could check out in that case.

However, you say that you don't have motivation to do anything you enjoy either and just want to lay in bed all day, which seems to me like you might be a bit depressed. Do you have any uplifting and motivational friends and family you can spend time with? It always helps me to be around people with positive attitudes like that, who push me to better myself. Otherwise, sometimes you just have to push yourself to do things because you know you have to, even if you really don't want to and don't feel motivated to at all.

    Image you are a fish.
And sadly, you are currently living in a forest.
Be confident and search for the way which lead you to the sea.

You don't like School? how cute.

You'll be in for a rude awakening in the "REAL WORLD". I would rather be in School vs Work.Trust me it doesn't get easier.

It was actually the opposite for me. I've never been a very academic person, but have always been very hands-on and a good worker, so work is by far easier and more enjoyable for me than school ever was. However, I'm sure it depends on the person, and it's definitely true that you have a lot more responsibilities as an adult.

In that case I recommend learning a trade vs college.

If you don't do well in school, you won't get into college, and if you don't get into college, some people will judge you and you may not be able to do what you wish with your life. For example, my goal is to become a translator, and a language degree is quite helpful for that goal.

I didn't do well in college, and while I got a few funny looks from people when I told them "college just wasn't for me", I think I did what was best for myself by dropping out. You're very correct that some occupations require a degree and you won't be able to land a position with one of those without one, but it's also very possible to find a good job without a degree as well.

Yes, as I said, "you -may- not be able to do what you wish". (Dashes added)

That's fine. The way it was written just made me think you misunderstood what I said.
