Is it normal to hate talking about your talents/jobs?

My boyfriend is being sweet and asking me about what my ideas are for a graphic design job. It annoys me cause it just seems pointless to talk about it when all anyone who isn't in graphic design will say is that it's a good/interesting idea. It just pisses me off when people ask me about my ideas. It's just a waste of time, especially when they ask over text or Facebook, like what do you think, that you'll be able to understand what my ideas look like just from me explaining it to you?

I'm probably being unnecessarily annoyed but it just bothers me SO much.

Would you be bothered by this?

It annoys me that people ask these types of questions then act overly interested about something they don't know anything about. I wish they would wipe and fake look off their face and just say "that's cool" and move on to another topic instead of asking more questions.

I don't like talking about this either, I hate when people asks what will I be, what will I work with etc. I don't annoy them with this stupid questions. I know what I want to do, and I don't think I have to say about it to eevrybody.

They're just making conversation. If you don't feel like telling, tell them you don't feel like telling. It really isn't that hard.

Also, why is it a prerequisite that your boyfriend has an informed opinion about the subject? You can tell him your ideas without him telling you his opinion.

    EDIT: I think it's probably normal, but I don't think it's good.

I'm sure you know that you can't expect people to know that you don't feel there is a point in saying anything to them. It just sucks that people are so sensitive that you can't tell them "Unless you know about the industry, it'd be difficult for you to understand what I'd have to say" and not offend them in some way. People are just so sensitive.

I hate how in my country (america) people (usually complete strangers) think its perfectly acceptable to you want you do for a living and how much you make. I think that is very rude. However, I reading that in France this is seen as very rude and socially frowned upon. I like that. As for your question, I think it's normal. Perhaps, try to communicate with your bf and tell him how you feel about this.

In Asian countries, it is actually as customary to ask as "How are you?". I personally do not think it is rude, but I'm not a particularly private person to begin with.
