Is it normal to hate the word "treat"?

I hate when people say "it'll be a treat, treat yourself, here's a special treat," etc. For some reason I feel like it insults my intelligence and the person that's saying it is stupid. I'm not a little puppy, I don't get excited by treats.

I don't feel as strongly about it as you do, but yeah, I do see your point. It might help to mentally re-frame the word as "gift" instead of assuming the person offering you a "little treat" is trying to insult you.

I feel more strongly about the word "special." It's so often used as an intensifier that it hardly means anything in most contexts. Is a "special gift" better than a gift? Is a "special talent" better than a plain old talent? Ugh, what a dumb word.

I've never thought of it that way and I don't see it as being condescending. Do you consider yourself above these treats or something?

I treated myself with a new diaper and proceeded to blow it out.

I don't find it insulting to my intelligence but it isn't my favourite word. It's an annoying word for me and I don't tend to use it myself.

I hate the word "treat" when people use it regarding fucking dogs, as in giving the dog a "treat."

I remember learning the word "treat" in kindergarten and didn't understand why this seemed to be such a common word among the teachers. Let me tell you, that petty homework at the time was most certainty not a treat. What tricksters they were.

I kid you not, I was just thinking how much I dislike the word to. Although I just dislike how it sounds. I dislike that word and "sweetheart."

I don't hear the word treat that often and when I do it's usually because something is a genuine treat.
