Is it normal to have a different religion from your family?

My family is Christian, and raised me to be a Christian, and I found no logic in their religion, so I have to hide from them that I am Atheist.

My husband and I were both raised in christian families. We both discovered the light and are now Satanist.

It is ok if you do not believe in Christianity. No one should force this type of belief on you. I do not think people should be bothered unless you are hurting someone. If you are not I really do not see why it is a big deal. Though believing differently from parents is often something (children/any person with parent) have to deal with. So this is normal.

I'm in the same boat. You could always tell them, but it depends on how religious they are. There's the risk that you could be disowned or kicked out of the house, etc. If you still live with them and currently can't move out for whatever reason, then I can see why you've been keeping this a secret. The first time, I came out as not being a christian was when I told my grandmother and my mother that I was converting to Buddhism. Their reactions were explosive. They shouted(especially in my face), harassed me, kicked doors open, tried to guilt trip me into saying that I was joking, etc. The final straw was when they were obviously still furious and told me that it was "alright" only if I still believed in God and Jesus. I was already scared from their initial reaction and I scared of what would happen if I said "No." so, I lied. Eventually, I realized that I couldn't practice Buddhism due to my current living situation so, I converted to something else but this time I kept it to myself.

My Stepmother and her family, all baptists. My dad, spiritual but not religious. Me, same as my dad. Whenever my stepmom went to church, I went with them for support (and by force). I, personally, Dont like to go to church. Sanctioned religion bugs the hell out of me.
