Normal? No. A problem? Probably not. Phobias are very common, and while I've never heard of this one before the rule of thumb is whether or not it interferes with leading a healthy, productive life.

It you're able to function in society despite your phobia, it's nothing to worry about.

However, if your phobia is worrying you, the best way to defeat it is through repeated and gradual exposure.

Work towards coming to terms with plumbing pipes- first learn all you can about them, what they are, how they work, how they've changed over time, etc.

Then, begin to expose yourself more and more to plumbing pipes, remembering what you've learned. Make an effort every week to come closer to touching and working with pipes.

Over time, you will become less sensitive to them, and will eventually cease to have these irrational fears.

    Good luck!

I have been googling a bit with some keywords that came to my mind about this thread.

It seems pretty much a normal "fear" or "phobia" to be afraid of pipes.

You could of course do some basic research on Yahoo!, Bing or Google about it, but I am pretty sure you will find the same answer.
