Someone once told me that having a speech impediment (which isn't nearly as bad as it was since I had regular speech therapy) made me more interesting to listen to and was a unique, positive part of my identity. Maybe it's the same for you and you just don't realise it.
Normal= common, so no, a lisp is not normal. Nor is it bad or wrong.
I've always thought that those with speech impediments must be some of the most frustrated folks around, because it is so difficult to express themselves verbally, in a pretty verbal world.
I know nothing about it medically, so I have no advice on how one might get rid of a lisp.

Rowan Atkinson has an awful stutter. I used to have a stutter but I forced myself to stop it eventually.
These aren't lisps of course don't help you at all, but interesting nonetheless.
And if I had a lisp i think i'd be self conscious about it too
Lisps are the result of a neurological condition(s), if I'm remembering correctly. If you are concerned you can get treatment for it by seeing a speech therapist.
Mel Tillis stuttered. Very successful singer/songwriter.
