Is it normal to have a little pee left after i urinate?

Just a quick question for you. Since I can't seem to find an answer anywhere else.

90% of the time when I use the washroom, there's a tiny bit of pee left. I'll go and everything is fine: no pain, blood, or anything weird and unusual. But as soon as I stand up from the commode, I still feel the urge to pee. So I lower myself back onto the seat and just this very tiny amount comes out.

Does anyone have an idea why that might be, or how I can remedy myself of this? It's really annoying and it's been going on for about two years now.

Some additional/possibly useful information about me: I'm a female. I've never had a child, or any sexual partners. I'm in my mid twenties.

Thanks in advance!

Urinary retention is often annoying, but not serious, especially if you can feel empty after the second sitting. But, it doesn't hurt to mention it to your ob/gyn on your next visit.

    • I avoid those people like the plague. I'm just too shy and the thought of a complete stranger seeing me naked is terrifying. So I don't have a doctor like that. That's why I'm looking for help on the internet, but if it gets any more serious, then I might have to take it up with a professional. However, thank you for your input!

They don't really see you naked. You have a gown and the parts they see are detached from your body. Most doctors allow you modesty. You really dont want problems to go unchecked. And never replace doctors with the internet.

        • Oh! I didn't mean I avoid all doctors, I just don't have a gynecologist so I can't ask them about it on my next visit, like JD777 suggested.

I do go to them for less private issues. And I will get help for this if I feel like I need to, but I'm just using the internet to gather a bit of information before I rush to an office. I've seen what takes place during visits before. And you're right, it's not too invasive, but for someone like me, it would take sometime to buildup courage before I could go. I know it sounds silly, but a lot fears are irrational. So I will be able to get past it.

I i just had a doctor tell me to go twice during an ultrasound. She said that there is often cramping and that prevents it all from coming out. However I just had a baby so my muscles are a bit taxed at the moment. But it seems common enough to not raise alarm unless you experience pain and or leakage. Practice your keegals, that should help. And drink plenty of water.

    • I do drink enough water (most of the days), but doing so has caused me to have a tiny bit of leakage in the morning. I'd say no more than five to six tiny drops. But I'm worried that that's a sign that I'll have a leaking bladder when I'm older.

I'll give that exercise a shot; I hope it works! Thank you for suggesting it. I was having such a hard time finding information online. All of my search results were for people with urinary tract infections or for men with this issue. Thanks again!

    • Maybe. I don't know much about that, but I can look into it. Thank you.

  • I think everybody does this. Thats why you wait to drip before leaving.

    • I thought that too, but then I noticed that I'm in the washroom much longer than most people around me. So now I'm not sure what to think.
