Is it normal to have a lot of student loan debt?

I didn't do well in high school so I don't qaulify for any scholarships. My parents also make too much money to qualify for government help. I am forced to take out student loans. I'm going into my third year of college and I am transferring to a more expensive school in Florida. Since I am not a Florida resident the cost of attendence is $30,000 a year. I have to take out a loan. So I'm wondering, is it normal to be in a lot of student loan debt if you're going to school to be a Doctor?
