Is it normal to have a mental breakdown when people yell at me?

I don't know if this is strange but every time anyone yells at me, I start uncontrollably crying and begin to hyperventilate and feel sick to the stomach. The crying usually lasts for a couple hour and I try to take longer breaths. An example is that my mom just yelled at me for being and the shower and made me get out before o could change my clothes. She then got up in my face and yelled about four more questions about why I was taking so long on the shower. Now I am curled up between the bed and the wall crying my eyes out and making sure nobody hears.

i wish i could say i'm past being bothered by it, but i'm almost over it. I just need a calm, logical environment to be happy.

Why do you live with your mother?

Seems like your mother can be very abusive. Have you ever been to therapy? Do you have someone to talk to?

If you can afford it maybe you should move out. Go somewhere where you can do things your own way.
