Is it normal to have a messy room?

My room is pretty messy, like clothes, tissues on the floor, drawers open, stuff stacked on any open surface, beds never made etc.

When my parents see my room they start a huge argument over it saying that it is completly not normal and no one elses room is like this and im like an animal.

But from my experience, a lot of young people's rooms are messy. and if you dont have 'a room' then the equivilent would be your house...do you have a messy house or room? is it normal?

    It must mean you are a genius. :) My room has never been clean. You can hardly see the floor (no joke) at times. =P

      lol same here, i also failed to mention i sometimes eat in my room, so therell be like a plate of orange peels on my desk randomly or something. lol

    Messy rooms are easier to hide stuff in. They are also easier to lose stuff in too. That being said, I try to keep my room tidy, but I wasn't always like this; there was a time when I kept my room messy on purpose. I also have subtle obsessive compulsive tendencies. I do NOT have O.C.D., I am just slightly a perfectionist...

    Hey this is so totally normal. Everyone has to have a place in their Flat where they can slob out. Me, my house is immaculate, but you oughta see my office, now that is a totally different story in itself, pig stye.

    Parents tell their kids to clean their room in order to prepare them for when they own a house. I'm sure they know that we're apathetic about how the house looks, that's why they assign us a room to take care of. I believe that we, being teenagers, care more about our own stuff than the stuff of others. At least that's what I believe.
