Is it normal to have a shrine?

Okay so I am a wiccan and have been practicing for around half a year or so. I know some may find it creepy but I have a shrine of a person I really love. It's one picture of him and some magazine clippings and things around an area that remind me of him. It really is quite beautiful, with paint and some art on the wall around his photo. I want to keep him in my thoughts and prayers because he's going through a rough time in his life. I don't think he would find it creepy but does anyone have personal opinions on this?

It's not weird to have a shrine in my opinion. In fact I used to have one dedicated to my favorite actor a couple of years ago. I think it's even more understandable to do it for religious reasons as you have done. I am fascinated by Wicca even though I am Catholic and historically that religion has been condemned by mine. (the allure of forbidden fruit perhaps?)

I personally would like to know more about Wiccan as I know nothing about it. As for the shrine, I think it's creepy and weird, but it sounds like what you're doing is for a good reason. But if you really want to help the person then talk to him, be there for emotional support as oppose to praying.

I've often made small shrines when someone I love has died: sometimes just their photo and a candle I leave burning until it burns down. It's part of the letting go process

all depends on the person whose opinion you are asking, and weather or not you are being weird and by whose standard--his? As for shrines, lots of religions have them....had a witch for a boyfriend for almost two years and lived with him, participated too.....he had one, so did my buddhist boyfriend....but these were to Gods/leaders....ones to dead relatives are common too....

It's you, Helga, isn't it? Arnold is your shrine. The length of your love for him has continued to span all of these years. Centuries? Whatever it is, your undying love for him is amazing. BEAUTIFUL!

            • Scmeddleine is the winner, it's like trying to talk to madeline while drunk.
