Is it normal to have been scared of loud noises as a kid?

I recently heard being scared of loud noises is a symptom of autism?
Then I thought back to when I was a kid. I remember I used to hate movie theaters because it was always so loud. Especially the trailers. I also didnt like the circus. I cant really think of any other specific examples but in general I guess loud noises made me uncomfortable. Im not like this anymore though.

I heard it's like one of the most common childhood fears. I had it too for a long time.

And it makes sense too, from a biological basis. Firstly because VERY loud noises can damage your ears and harm your hearing. Also because of what loud noises in a prehistoric setting might represent; a predator, a natural disaster etc... it makes sense.

It is very common for children, autistic or not, to dislike loud noises. All of my friends would hold their ears and get upset during the 4th of July, except for me. And I'm autistic, lol.

It depends. Does it still happen to you today? Your ears may simply be too "sensitive", and you can go see a doctor to confirm that. And in case it's that, he will have some good advice for you.

If it only happenned in your childhood, then I suppose it's fine. The past is the past anyways...

Then it's nothing to worry about ;)

If you're still unsure, you can always go to a doctor to feel more safe.
