My little sister of twelve has never had a crush on a boy (or girl!), and she thinks shes not normal. So naturally i came here! She has a really poor body image, so i want to make sure she doesnt feel worse about herself. But dont sugarcoat it
She is a damn child, she isn't supposed to have a real crush on someone.
I don't see that as being strange. Even if it is, you can't exactly force feelings, so I wouldn't worry about it. I mean, she is only 12.
Most kids don't have crushes until they hit puberty and start becoming sexually attracted to people. Before this most kids either think the opposite gender has "cooties" or is merely friends with anyone of any gender.
If you have a crush before puberty, it's not really a crush, it's probably admiration or fascination in them as a person, and it's usually someone they look up to rather than a peer. Kids might see adults falling in love and think just because they think someone of the opposite gender is cool that they're in love with them, but really, you don't get intense sexual or romantic feelings until puberty begins, which is around ten to twelve for girls and eleven to thirteen for boys. So, your "sister" is well within the confines of normality.
I still don't have a crush. :D It is normal. She is 12. Let her enjoy her childhood. :)
i have never had a crush on anyone to age 15 and she was a girl..well i am a girl. i can say it is normal in age 12!! and she is a kid btw
It's not abnormal. I got my first crush when I was 8 (I did not have fictional crushes before that time), but not every person is like that. My father and aunt didn't start dating until college.
Your last sentence confused me for a moment. It sounded like your father and aunt waited to date each other until they were in college, unless that actually happened (I doubt that, though).

Yes, of course. I got my first crush at her age - mind you, I was only a few months off from turning 13. Don't worry about it!
I didn't have a real crush until I was 13, not counting celebrity and fictional crushes. Your sister is totally normal, she's barely even old enough for a bf.
I didn't have my first real crush on anyone until 14 (not counting celebrities :P) My best friend is the same way. Totally normal. :)
